I work in watercolor and oil. I enjoy plein air, portraiture, and figure drawing as well.
I specialize in portraits of people and pets, done in oil, watercolor or charcoal.
I DO NOT use photoshop programs to create enhanced photos that simulate a painting. I proudly use the traditional means of hand drawing and painting and the result is an honest interpretation from fine art materials. I strive to get more than an acceptable similarity, but the unique character and nuances of the individual. A good portrait is a likeness that goes beneath the skin, a gesture and a look in the eyes that you recognize...
I approach both pets and people with the same ernest effort. Pets are usually less money only because they don't expect glamorization and cosmetic alterations. People on the other hand, have their ideas about how they want to look, and I try to accommodate those wishes...Gentlemen, remember if you are surprising your gal, make sure you choose photos she likes! I will do my best to play up her best attributes. and heck, it is more personal and
Cheaper than Diamonds!
For pets especially, I can work from your photos, or I can take the photos myself. I enjoy this
opportunity to meet the subject.
Portrait Pricing: Unlike photography, since these are unique and one of kind, pricing becomes an individual thing.
But for a ballpark, expect an 8x10 of your pet to be about $100 or a person to be about $150
12X16 oil, pet $195 or person $300
watercolor $150 and $250
Larger sizes available
These are approximations and I set a ceiling on a price so there are no surprises. I also guarantee your satisfaction.
Please call or email me for a price quote. In instances of multiple subjects, it is more challenging work for me, so I will give you
my best estimate, and a guaranteed maximum price. If you have a budget in mind, please ASK. I will try to custom tailor a portrait, adjusting size and medium. However, due to personal standards, I will not compromise on likeness or quality, so please keep that in mind.
As an artist, my mission is to record moments in time with a deeper perspective, not a simple reflection as a photograph would replicate. I am am not the reporter with a camera, but the ARTIST with a brush.
